Get Snappy with Posters and Get Results!

I had no idea there were free poster templates available on the internet. When our hospital wanted to create a poster for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, my job was easier than I though. I just found an online printer, downloaded a template, uploaded my poster to their site and Voila! Done! We've now decided to do this for every promotion our hospital has."

Posters are a great way to get information out into the local community. Boasting colorful graphics and easily readable headlines, posters are intended to catch the eye of those passing by; therefore, your poster's job is to catch their attention and draw them in within a matter of seconds. By following the simple design steps below, you can rest assured that your poster will demand attention and not get overlooked.

Posters are easy to read.

Use short, catchy headlines. It is imperative that your headline be as short as possible and snappy enough to make the reader stop and want to learn more. Since posters are normally viewed from a distance, your headline should be in large type that is clearly readable from a minimum distance of ten feet.

Posters get to the point.

Write to-the-point details. Other than the headline, the only other text on your poster should be information that builds your product or event's credibility and gives the reader enough details to be able research further either via your website, visiting your storefront or by calling. When deciding on text, less is always more so keep your information as condensed as possible. Including a quote from a media source or accredited personality can be a valuable addition to help validate your product and promotion.

Posters get attention.

Grab them with imagery! When it comes to full color posters, compelling imagery is essential to help bring attention to your poster. There is a good chance that there will be other posters hanging in the same area as yours so you must choose images and colors that will stand out in a crowd. Be careful not to use too many photos. This can cause the layout to become cluttered and look confusing to the reader quickly losing their interest.

Thanks to many of today's online printing companies, posters are more affordable than ever. Many provide free poster templates that can be downloaded to assist you in creating your poster if you do not have the skills to do it yourself or the budget to hire a high-end design agency.
